It is an Inside Job

Happiness, love, healing… it’s all an inside job.

When did the responsibility of our own well being become not ours? We’ve adopted an entitled mindset and shifted away from taking responsibility. Stop questioning if you are deserving of happiness, love and whatever makes you feel alive and whole. Step into your power and work for these things. Perhaps it comes easier to someone else but change starts with acceptance. Accept that for now and maybe in the future it may be harder for you to maintain your well being than it is for others.

Let’s slow down, taking time to breathe and be present in the moment. As we slow down we can allow ourselves to shift into an observer role in our own life. Put your life on hold for a second. Be present in what is here and now. Get down and dirty with yourself. Dive inwards, get messy and find yourself in the beautiful core of everything that makes you your own being. It might be uncomfortable, it might hurt but I promise that you’ll survive.

As you sit there with yourself, do an internal inventory. Identify your beliefs, loves, desires, judgements, hobbies and everything that lays within and embodies you. Strip yourself down to your foundation and reflect. Connect with the beautiful being that is you.

What makes you smile?

What makes you happy?

What makes you laugh?

What makes you feel connected?

What makes you feel relaxed?

What makes your heart hurt?

What makes you anxious?

What makes you angry?

When you reflect you bring awareness. You know what brings joy and what brings pain. Search for the things that you can’t help but smile at. For me, it’s the rays of sunlight beaming. Fill your life with the passions and things that make you feel like you’re blooming into the abyss and dancing amongst the stars. Feel the warmth it brings you, deep within your belly with each breath and let it fill you up. Identify the things that cause you pain. Find out why your heart hurt when something happened or you felt reactive over responsive.
